Spiritual growth is no-fault insurance assuring us that no blame, no shame attaches. Personal accountability, personal responsibility are spiritual growth's replacement gifts.
Ego seeks to be absolved of all blame always...and shames whoever is handy so as to cover its misdirected view. Ego's eye is directed outward, looking for someone to blame and shame; gratitude, our spiritual eye, is turned inward, seeking the Father within.
We learn...slowly, very slowly if we're doing it right...that blame and shame are fear, plain and simple. Fear comes in different shapes and sizes, always self-directed and always cut to fit our shape-shifting ego.
The mistake we make is believing ego's press...that if spiritual fitness is so good and right, then we should be able to control our self and all about us. Which we cannot. It is our utter capitulation, when I See Me is in full sway, that we crash and burn. It is in that moment that we are freed from the bondage of self, and we receive the gift of love and laughter at and for our own self.
We are freed in spirit and in fact...ah, then we learn it is a fleeting freedom. We must ever recommit, turn repeatedly within, as we slowly learn to accept our powerlessness as the door upon which our Father knocks.
He stands at the door and knocks seeking to be released...to go before us to make the crooked places straight, to intervene in our life in our behalf. There it is...the pearl beyond price.
Thank you.
