GRIEF & LAUGHTER...TWO TAKES, SAME COIN

It [grief] is the blue mood that greets us upon waking....It is essential for us to welcome our grief, whatever form it takes. -- Fr Richard Rohr, "Daily Meditation," August 5, 2021

There's my answer. I  awoke recently in that blue mood, but with no idea of what brought it on. I prayed my thank you, wrote about it, shared the fact of it with beloveds...I let it go with the natural question of what was that about? coming and going in my mind.

Rohr wrote of grief, and my perplexity was released. It is unrealized grief awakening that got up with me feeling all blue all over.

Face it, grief does not have a good rep in this world, and that let in the thought...all we need do is change our mind about grief. We can recognize grief as the companion to laughter...we can't have one without the other. We need make both welcome as one in our life.

This is a humbling example of divine providence making a personal homecare visit. With no specific instructions, requests, directions...hints even!...from me.

Divine providence in a word: Trust. Trust that all our needs have already been met, all our questions already answered.

A particular note to Rohr's assuring us how essential welcoming is...there's our thank you prayer. There is no unanswered need or even want when we realize the power of thank you...there is the go-ahead.  Not for God to move, for our own self to remove!

Thank you.
