Living in the imperfect now is the constant shucking of the personal...even projections of wants, motives, aspirations which are dressed up to seem for the benefit of others.
We do for the benefit of others for the benefit of others. If we're doing it to get a closer step-up to God, we're doing it for glory...and doing for glory is entrenchment in ego.
What is so hard to grasp is that we are already as close to God as we are ever going to be...only our realization of that fact needs honing, and that's not by us, but by God in us.
Union [with God] is not a place we go to later--if we are good; union is the place from which we come, the place from which we’re called to live now. -- Fr Richard Rohr, "Daily Meditation," April 29, 2019
Thank you.
