Consciousness Bias: Some things simply can’t be seen from where I am right now. But if I keep growing, maturing, and developing, someday I will be able to see what is now inaccessible to me. (Brian McLaren, Why Don’t They Get It? Overcoming Bias in Others (and Yourself) (Self-published: 2019), e-book.)
The paradox of answered prayer...we pray for peace and get war, pray for wealth and get poverty, pray for health and get ill, pray for...our wants, pretty as they are, they are our wants, plain and simple.
I say that our need is to concentrate our singular want on trust, on trusting God's will (i.e., whatever is before us right Now) as better for us than our will no matter the contrary evidence to our eyes.
Whatever comes to us comes by invitation only. Unrealized, unknown, unanticipated...but invited nonetheless. There...we start to trust right there. To trust that as true and our personal truth.
That is where we must needs begin...to dig within, to change our mind, to make our U-bie away from self-will toward God's will, away from self to become One'd with the Father, Which, face it, is a rest-of-our-life journey which cannot be made but by still more spiritual growth.
We begin in earnest when we make a decision to shuck our shields...to trust God no matter what. Then comes the necessity to make a decision to become a forgiving person...and trust God no matter what.
The beauty of spiritual growth is we don't get it by making sense of it. Face it, if we could get to God by just thinking...a lot...we'd all have angel wings.
Get quiet, pray thank you, wait on the Lord.
Thank you.
