My mentor often reminds me that the path gets ever narrower for those of us who commit to the disciplined practice of still more spiritual growth. And it does.
I'm convinced it narrows commensurate with our need and our reasoning mind's inability to shuck our shields...to strip the very idea that we know or that we should know what we need do, think, say, be...beforehand. Before the need arises...before we have to go another human being for help, not to put too fine a point on it.
We do not and cannot know what the spiritual asks of us individually, personally and, specifically, beforehand. A big clue is the quote my friend Linda gave me, What's in the way is the way.
All the good words we have read, have come to agree with and pass on to others, are precisely what we must do. Love your enemy...be kind to those who hurt/anger you...go beyond reason to love...judge not...and the biggie, the meek shall inherit the earth.
We think we got it when we finally grasp why each is the good news. No. Those are but words, the barest beginning, albeit the essential first step.
The answer, my friends, is written...within. Within our heart, our soul, our body, our brains. Our willingness to seek help opens the door to radical humility...I'm guessing, she humbly admits.
Thank you.
