ON MEETING ASLAN IN THE LION'S DEN

Mature prayer always breaks into gratitude. -- Fr Richard Rohr, "Daily Meditation," August 6, 2019

Our hard life decisions can be analogized in two ways: as a snake pit or as a lion's den.

The first, a snake pit (ego's home), represents our being stuck in any self-determined objective with faith in naught but ourself to get us out, to break us free. And we feel consumed by  fear.

The second, the lion's den, represents our walking forward in faith toward a feared yet unknown outcome. There is a lion's den and we enter...praying thank you all the while. Whoa! and Lo! There is Aslan, i.e., the Christ, and we are freed of our fear, recognizing it as the fear of making a wrong decision. We know, and we know not how, that whatever choice we make will inure to our benefit. And we are enwrapped in grateful peace.

Thank you.
