Ever so diligently we seek to learn who we are, then to accept what we discover...warts and all...then to come to believe only the best of that self. The I'm-only-human kicker is even achieving that lofty goal is no guarantee even when we do our best that on occasion we won't screw it up in the process.
That is how I came to believe that the most important word in my set of directions is "when." The direction is "when wrong, promptly admit it," not "if wrong." That not only allows us, it directs us to be the human we were born to be...wrong at times, but not deliberately and never with selfish intent.
That direction is also the gateway out of self. Who knew? That admission of wrong the egoic self will fight every inch of the way, but it is that gateway that is the door at which I stand and knock.
I stand at the door and knock to be let out! To lead us deeper to the better part of our self, the spiritual core, our Soul. With the realization of our personal responsibility for our wrongs, our reasoning mind slowly loosens its grip...first by realizing we may not be right, then, uh-oh, that s/he may not be wrong. We love and laugh.
We're on our way!...heading in the right direction. Now, we can continue to be the human we were born to be, earning accolades and raspberries and knowing not a lick of difference.
We're on our way!...to earning our wings to fly above our personal wants, to soar with God's impersonal needs, love and laughter.
Thank you.
