A friend once told me of a time she was planning an across-the-ocean cruise, and she asked her spiritual director how she could be certain she would be safe...if there was anything she could do, say, think that would protect her.
Her spiritual director replied, "There is no you to protect."
There is no graduation...there is only commencement.
