GO TO GOD FOR GOD...THAT IS ALL

"Everything is profane if you live on the surface of it, and everything is sacred if you go into the depths of it—even your sin. To go inside your own mistakenness is to find God. To stay on the surface of very good things, like Bible, sacrament, priesthood, or church, is to often do very unkind and evil things, while calling them good." -- From Fr. Richard Rohr's Daily Meditation, May 26, 2013

To stay on the surface of very good things is an especially easy trap to fall into. To do our digging into our past, find our uglies, confess them to our mentor or other is a good thing. To learn our spiritual lessons from that place is our sacred.

Too often we stay on the surface, though. Here comes the opportunity to do one of our uglies again, and we take that opportunity, justifying our behavior by blaming our upbringing that caused us to be this way. We change not, we just have somebody to blame now. There. That is our profane.

We cannot change that by our unaided self-will no matter how high our intellect, how big our brain, how deep our desire. We go to God for God, and our life changes.

A forever truth: "Most important is the discovery that all of our problems can be solved by spiritual principles." -- Anonymous

Thank You.
