I know it wasn't until I stopped praying for something from some image "out there," that I got my first glimpse, my first blinding flash of the obvious, that My Father lives within me as the great I Am. With which came the realization that It has already solved all my problems for my benefit (and, it must be said, not necessarily to my initial liking).
We would think that with that BFO all my niggles and natters and ughs and wants would be behind me. No...that is not the case. That is the jumping off place. That is where we get to hold our nose and take the leap of faith out into the great unknown. There is no way around that leap. We can resist, obfuscate, argue, delay all we want (and I'm guessing we all do), but leap we must...if not now, when?, if not in this lifetime, how many lifetimes later? For until we take that leap out into the great unknown, we will of necessity have to depend on our reasoning mind...which got us into our present dissatisfied state to begin with.
The rest of the story is that "complete devotion to the Lord as personified in a divine incarnation will enable us to soar." That, to me, means complete devotion to "a personal God," to the God of our own understanding, is the key to freedom from the bondage of self. Now, that's soaring.
As another old saying goes, this is not a theory...we have to live it.
Thank You.
