ACCEPTANCE...A GIFT OF GRACE

"Just do it," "action is the key word"...just two slogans of wisdom that I didn't fully understand for a long time. I thought they meant to step up and out...move it, shake it, get up and gogogo. All of which may be true, but there's a much deeper meaning that is even harder to do and stick to.

"Just do it," "action is the key word" are also clues to stop looking "out there" for what we need to do, to be, to change. The only way to lasting change is the way of acceptance. And acceptance always comes from within. Acceptance of who we are and what we're all about right this very minute is not a commodity we get from out there...it is, however, a gift of grace.

Praying "Thank You for me just as I am right this very minute," is the essential jumping off place. We pray that until we mean it from our toenails up. Then we pray, "Thank You for my everything just as it is right this very minute," and again pray that until we mean it...and meaning it takes its own sweet time.

"Meaning it" is just another term for realizing...for without the realization, we just got so many words. Just because we understand the words doesn't mean we realize their truth. We can memorize whole passages of words, recite them on demand and never live a word of them, because we have not realized what each and every word means to us personally, within us/without us.

A good test for me on how well I'm doing with my being grateful for everything just as it is right this very minute is to picture Rush Limbaugh's face...and I'm back on my knees.

Thank You.
