Things are rarely as they seem...perception is everything.
Take surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life...what if the bumps, bruises and fools we must suffer all the days of our lives are our goodness and mercy? Or are leading us to our goodness and mercy?
What if all these things that are added unto us when we seek first the kingdom of heaven are wrapped in those very bumps, bruises and fools?
Face it, how else are we led to get over our own self? Why would we want to get over our self if our every wish were as pure, platonic and peaceable as we believe each to be?
I heard an acquaintance yesterday kvetching about all the fools she is forced to work with, and I flashed back to me at my last place of employment before I retired. Holy moly, what a pack of braggarts and blowhards I had to contend with...according to me.
Ah, but came the day, a couple years after I retired, when I got a phone call from the Chairman of the Board of that same place...calling to inform me I had been elected to their Hall of Honor. I doubt there's a need to say how quick, fast and in a hurry my braggarts and blowhards became fine, intelligent representatives of exemplary citizenship...not to mention each an honor to work with.
Things are rarely as they seem...perception is everything. Or, try looking at life through God's eyes.
Thank you.
