I had what Fr Richard calls a “falling upward” experience yesterday morning. I was invited to share at a meeting unfamiliar to me, and I did...to all appearances, it went well.
To my egoic mind, however, it did not go well; to wit, I did not meet my ego's high expectations of me. No one in the room had any expectations of me so "it went well" to them.
There it is. Way too many of life's trials and tribulations spelled out plain and simple...we don't meet our ego's high expectations of our self. Also likely and another story, you don't meet our ego's high expectations for our self.
Learning they are all the same is one of our great lessons...the punchline being, no blame, no shame attaches.
So, what are we left with? Love and laughter, of course. Proving again that God's hand is ever with us.
